Chocolate, Conversations and Love Along Orchard Road

Square pieces of milk chocolate are arranged on a floral ceramic plate, with several squares embedded with white chocolate heart centers. An open book rests partially visible in the upper-right corner of the soft-lit surface.

There is something about chocolate that always brings me back to you.

Loving you feels the same. It’s never rushed. It lingers, slowly filling every ordinary moment until I realize you’re all I can think about. Just like the best chocolate, you don’t overwhelm me, you stay with me, warm and familiar, long after the sweetness has faded. And every time I sit across from you, sharing another dessert, I realize I’m not there because I love chocolate.

I still remember the first time we walked into The Awfully Chocolate Experience Cafe. I wasn’t even hungry. I just didn’t want the day to end. Watching the warm chocolate pour over our dessert, seeing your smile after the first bite, hearing your laugh. It made me realize that the sweetest part of that afternoon was never the chocolate. It was you.

Since then, cafes have become places where we slow down together. We linger over hot chocolate and slices of cake, promise we’ll only order one dessert, then end up sharing another anyway. I love watching you tell stories, seeing your eyes light up when you discover something you enjoy, and the way you always offer me the first bite without thinking twice.

People come to Orchard Road for the shopping and the crowds, but I hardly notice any of it anymore. When I’m with you, the noise fades away. Somehow, even the busiest streets feel quiet because all I can think about is how lucky I am to be beside you.

Long after we’ve finished dessert and left the cafe, those moments stay with me. Not because I remember the taste of the chocolate, but because I remember your smile across the table, the sound of your laughter, and the way you make ordinary afternoons feel unforgettable.

Maybe that’s what love really is.

Not grand gestures or perfect plans, but choosing each other in the smallest moments. Sharing the last bite of cake. Sitting together a little longer than we planned. Finding every excuse to stay.

Orchard Road will always have its lights and endless movement, but for me, it will always be the place where I learned that love can be as simple as sharing chocolate with you, and quietly hoping the moment never ends.
