Every Time I Walk Orchard Road, I Find Another Reason to Stay for Dinner

A dinner spread served on a wooden table features a main platter with sauce-covered ribs, French fries, a small green salad, and a ramekin of cheese dip. In the background, a large bowl of fresh garden salad rests next to two colorful iced cocktails garnished with fruit and rosemary.

Every time I walk along Orchard Road, I tell myself I am only going to browse, grab a coffee, or finish a few errands. Somehow, that plan rarely lasts. There is always another restaurant I notice, another dessert I suddenly want to try, or another familiar place that makes me think, maybe I should just stay for dinner.

What I love about eating around Orchard Road is that it never feels like I am simply stopping for a meal. There is something about being surrounded by the lights, the crowds, and the energy of the city that makes dinner feel like part of the experience. Sometimes I sit down alone and enjoy a quiet meal; other times, I find myself wishing I had someone beside me to share another dish.

Over time, these meals have become little markers in my own memories of Orchard Road. I remember where I stopped when I was tired, the cafés where I lingered longer than planned, and the dinners that turned an ordinary afternoon into something worth remembering. The food matters, but so does how I felt while eating it.

Maybe that is why I keep coming back. Orchard Road always gives me another reason to slow down, find something delicious, and stay just a little longer. What begins as a simple walk often ends around a table—and somehow, I never regret it.
